Work Process

RESEARCH

The objective was to map user, stakeholder, and market expectations around how financial management could be made easy and engaging. We began by understanding how stakeholders perceived financial issues among our target users. These insights were then validated with the users themselves to uncover the real challenges they faced in managing their finances. This process revealed key insights and pain points: financial management seems so complex to do, especially when users first started managing their money. Ongoing challenges and a lack of motivation further hindered their ability to achieve long-term financial well-being. I also conducted a competitive analysis through some of other similar products like Finetiks, MoneyLovers & Finansialku just trying to find possible value proposition. From those products, most of it are having too many complex feature from first usage, potentially overwhelm new users as well as being too redundant for the savvy users.

DEFINE

The research process helped me uncover key insights that defined the problem statement and informed potential solutions. As identified earlier, the complexity of financial management emerged as the primary issue, contributing to barriers and a lack of understanding in managing personal finances. Therefore, this product needed to be designed as a lightweight solution, with core financial features that are easy to use and supported by information and insights that facilitate financial management and learning.

DESIGN

The design process began with mapping the user journey across the product. Several possible scenarios were identified, with the primary focus on the stage where users review a summary of their financial activities on the home screen. This stage is crucial, as the progress summary helps users understand which aspects of their finances require the most attention. Insights from our research with target users emphasized the importance of providing clear guidance on where to begin. Therefore, the home screen needed to serve as an accessible central hub for users’ core financial information. The journey mapping process also helped define the core features across each wireframe, leading up to the high-fidelity design. Budgeting and transaction features were prioritized and personalized based on users’ financial settings.
